People who are hyperopic (farsighted) will have a more difficult time seeing closer objects. After the age of thirty five those same people may also notice changes affecting their acuity at night and at distance without proper correction. Glare especially becomes a problem. This condition results from either the axial length of the eye being too short or the cornea/lens power being too weak causing light rays to focus behind the retina. Common symptoms include headaches/fatigue when reading, eyes focusing and refocusing, and print appearing smaller. This issue is easily corrected with either glasses or contact lenses and in some cases refractive surgery for those whom are candidates. Once diagnosed as hyperopic (farsighted) it is recommended that regular eye exams are preformed to monitor its progression as this condition can change.
